FX Currency tries 4 different live rate APIs in sequence. If one fails, it falls back to the next instantly — so you always get live rates, never an error screen.

Yes, 100% free forever. All 114 currencies (including crypto), all 5 screens, rate alerts, trip budgeting, streaks, achievements, live news, offline support — all free. FX Currency Pro is an optional upgrade for power users who want unlimited history and advanced analytics.

Yes. FX Currency has a service worker that caches the last fetched rates. When you go offline, the app shows cached rates and clearly labels how old they are. 114 hardcoded fallback rates (including BTC, ETH, BNB) ensure the app never shows an error screen even on first launch without internet.

Every 5 minutes while the app is open. FX Currency uses a 4-API fallback chain — if the first API fails, it tries the next one instantly. Crypto rates (BTC, ETH, BNB) are fetched separately via CoinGecko and preserved across fiat refreshes.

Like Duolingo but for currency! Make at least one genuine conversion per day to keep your streak alive. You earn XP, unlock 15 level titles, collect achievement badges, and a Josh mascot reacts to your progress with 6 emotional states. Streak freezes are earned every 7 days (max 2). There's even a native Android home-screen widget.

FX Currency is on the Google Play Store (Android) and installable as a PWA on any device with a browser. iOS support is planned. It's a Capacitor-wrapped web app, so it works on any Chromium-based browser too.
